Bachelor / Master Thesis / IDP (m/f/d) – Real-time 3D motion correction


Your mission

Our LiDAR  Sensor is already one of the best in the world and produces great 3D data. But great hardware also comes with great software challenges. In particular, the motion effect caused by the time dependent sampling of a scanning LiDAR is  a challenging topic on which you could research and work. The goal is to correct the effect for moving objects with a statically mounted LiDAR sensor and/or point-based correction by using the on-board IMU sensor.

Your tasks

⟋ Research and implement real-time 3D motion correction
⟋ Use on-board IMU and fuse it with the 3D point cloud
⟋ Evaluate and benchmark the implementation
⟋ Integrate and visualize the correction in the Web GUI with the help of the Frontend team
⟋ Embed algorithm in on-device ROS2

Your profile

⟋ You are currently studying computer science, physics, mathematics or electrical  engineering
⟋ You have relevant programming skills in C++ and Python
⟋ You are interested in and capable of understanding and solving mathematical problems
⟋ You have experience with high-performance real-time application on embedded devices
⟋ You have experience with ROS/ROS2
⟋ You have very good communication skills in English
