Blickfeld has received a €1.8 million grant from the EU programme Horizon2020

The European Commission’s funding programme Horizon2020 has granted Blickfeld €1.8 million for developing a highly scalable, small, and inexpensive high-resolution 3D LiDAR for the mass market. The two-year project was successfully completed in May 2022.

About Horizon2020

Horizon2020 was the largest EU financial instrument for innovation and research from 2014 to 2020 with a budget of close to €80 billion. The programme aimed toward securing the global competitiveness of the region through sustainable, smart, and inclusive economic growth by facilitating breakthrough technology and world-class science as well as reducing and removing barriers to innovation to addressing and solving significant challenges. Therefore, the programme mainly supported projects in three pillars: Excellent Science, Industrial Leadership, and Societal Challenges. The programme has been succeeded by Horizon Europe.

About the project

Blickfeld was selected as an innovative SME as part of the Industrial Leadership pillar, which supports innovation and research projects that strengthen Europe’s global leadership and competitiveness in existing and emerging sectors. The project “Automotive3DLiDAR” comprised the development towards the first small, robust, scalable, cost-effective, high-performing MEMS-based LiDAR sensor for automotive and mobility applications.
