Blickfeld, the breakthrough LiDAR sensor technology company creating innovative hardware and software products, will be expanding its operations into the US.
To support Blickfeld’s operations on the ground in the US, the company will open a new office in the Detroit area, to establish its strategic North American location. Blickfeld plans to hire 25 more people by the end of 2023.
As part of the IN2Lab research project, Blickfeld is working with project partners such as Audi, Continental, the Fraunhofer Institute for Transportation and Infrastructure Systems IVI and the Ingolstadt University of Applied Sciences to develop a system that provides automated and autonomous driving with environmental information collected from the infrastructure for additional safety.
Blickfeld’s technology empowers TUfast Eco (TU Munich) and Elbflorace (TU Dresden) to navigate race tracks autonomously in the upcoming 2022 racing season. The company sponsors both student teams with their advanced LiDAR sensors to support them in the autonomous challenges of the racing competitions.
Our Percept software version 1.3 empowers users to continuously measure bulk volumes enabling e.g. just-in-time stockpile management. Additional features include the creation of multiple zones with the same setting and auto-alignment of the sensor’s point cloud to the virtual ground.
The Deutsche Bahn subsidiary is working with project partners on an autonomous shuttle bus with teleoperation.
Connecting rural regions better to public transport, increasing user acceptance of autonomous services, making mobility more sustainable – the research project “Bavarian Autonomous Remote-Controlled Shuttle” (BARCS) is contributing to highly relevant and impressive goals of our time.
Blickfeld has been chosen as one of the most promising German tech start-ups by the global analyst platform “Tracxn” and was included in their „Soonicorn Club 2022“.
The Blickfeld “Cube 1 Outdoor” LiDAR sensor is protected in accordance to IP65 against ingress of dust and jets of water from all directions. Power-over-Ethernet technology simplifies installation and maintenance, reduces the number of accessories required and thus the complexity of comprehensive LiDAR systems.
Blickfeld is strengthening its leadership team with the appointment of machine learning and deep learning expert Doychin Tsanev. He joins from Hyundai Mobis, where he built perception solutions for cameras and was the development lead for perception technologies based on LiDAR and imaging radar sensors. With this move, Blickfeld further strengthens its market position in perception software for LiDAR.
Buses move continuously through urban traffic daily, often in busy city centers and the main city arteries. Therefore, they are very well-suited for collecting data on urban traffic and assimilating valuable information for smart city applications. This information can then be used to analyze traffic volumes at certain locations and optimize traffic flow.
2021 is drawing to a close, and it is the second year in a row that was somewhat ‘different.’ Despite all the uncertainty, it is time to look back and be proud of what we managed to achieve and look forward with a renewed motivation for action! That’s precisely what we want to do in this article.
