Truck bed volume measurement
Powered by 3D LiDAR
Efficient, precise, and contactless
Accurate truck bed volume measurement is essential for managing bulk materials efficiently. Whether you’re overseeing deliveries, optimizing dispatch, or billing by volume or weight, reliable data is critical. Traditional estimation methods often struggle with irregularly shaped or moisture-sensitive loads.
Our 3D LiDAR technology acts as a powerful load scanner, providing high-resolution, real-time data to precisely measure load volumes on flatbeds, dump trucks, and other vehicles. When material density is known, the system can convert volume into weight (tons), supporting accurate billing, compliance with load limits, and optimized vehicle use.
Digital records for every load improve transparency, inventory accuracy, and simplify audits and reporting.

Reliable Material Tracking
Capture exactly what’s loaded or offloaded to keep inventory records accurate and up to date.
Efficient Dispatch Planning
Avoid overloads, underloads, and unnecessary trips with real-time load data.
Accurate Billing
Eliminate volume estimation errors, even with irregular or loose materials.
Simplified Reporting
Use clear 3D visualizations to verify load conditions for audits and compliance.
How It Works
The system uses eye-safe, high-frequency 3D LiDAR sensors to scan trucks as they pass through the measurement zone. Acting as a contactless load scanner, it emits thousands of laser pulses per second and captures their reflections to build a precise 3D profile of the truck load in real time.
This detailed spatial data allows the system to calculate the exact volume of bulk material on the vehicle—whether the load is uneven, loosely packed, or variable in moisture.
Unlike weight-based systems, which can be inaccurate with wet or fluffy materials, the LiDAR-based approach provides consistent, contactless truck bed volume measurement with no manual input required. The result is dependable data for billing, inventory tracking, and regulatory compliance.
2D vs. 3D LiDAR for Truck Load Measurement
2D LiDAR systems use a single laser line to scan across the load. This provides limited data and often requires extrapolation to estimate volumes, which can lead to gaps or inaccuracies, particularly with irregular or uneven loads.
3D LiDAR systems, on the other hand, capture the full surface geometry by emitting multiple laser beams or using wide-area sensing techniques. This generates a detailed three-dimensional representation of the truck load, allowing for more precise truck bed volume measurement.
Key differences include:
- Coverage: 3D LiDAR captures complete load surfaces, while 2D relies on partial cross-sections.
- Accuracy: 3D data supports more accurate measurement, especially for complex or variable materials.
- Sensor Setup: 3D LiDAR typically requires fewer sensors due to its comprehensive scanning ability.
- Additional Capabilities: 3D systems can assist with load positioning, overload detection, and support process automation.
From open stockpiles to silos and truck beds, bulk materials are stored in many ways. LiDAR technology enables accurate, real-time volume monitoring across all these storage types, helping businesses optimize operations and reduce manual effort.

Key Features
✔ Automated, non-contact truck bed volume measurement and remaining load detection
✔ Interactive dashboard with 3D visualization and vehicle dimensioning
✔ Real-time result access via local or web-based dashboard
✔ Compact, easy-to-install setup with minimal infrastructure
Flexible and Scalable Setup
Designed for diverse operational environments, our system can be deployed in fixed installations or mobile units. This flexibility makes it suitable for off-grid, temporary, or remote sites. Typical setups mount sensors approximately 8 meters above a scanning zone, capturing standard trucks and trailers. A cost-effective two-sensor configuration delivers full load coverage, ensuring comprehensive and accurate truck bed volume measurement.
Easy to Deploy, Ready to Integrate
Our sensors are designed for straightforward installation and seamless integration into existing systems. They deliver precise load measurements in real time with minimal setup, enabling businesses to quickly benefit from accurate bulk material monitoring.
Supported Materials and Vehicle Types
Our sensors are designed to accurately measure a wide range of loose bulk materials, including gravel, soil, sand, and waste. They are compatible with various vehicle types such as dump trucks, flatbeds, and articulated trailers, making them well-suited for applications in construction, mining, logistics, and other bulk handling industries.
