Master thesis (m/f/d) Sensor modeling


Your mission

We develop and produce groundbreaking LiDAR sensors for a wide range of applications in the fields of automotive, robotics, smart infrastructure, people counting and many more. If you are interested in optical sensors, you have come to the right place.
As part of the VIVALDI research project, we are integrating our LIDAR sensor into a virtual sensor and simulation environment – in close collaboration with various research institutions and partners from the automotive industry. Thus, complex scenarios of autonomous driving can be simulated virtually and the safety of vehicle, passengers and other road users can be secured in various situations.
In this master thesis we offer you the opportunity to develop and validate a digital twin of our lidar system and to integrate it into the simulation environment of the VIVALDI project. Support us in modeling our lidar system together with our departments and the VIVALDI research network.
As a start-up, we are unfortunately not able to offer paid theses.

Your tasks

⟋ Develop an FMI sensor model of our lidar system and enable integration with the OpenSimulationInterface (OSI) standard.
⟋ Validate and verify the model for different environmental conditions
⟋ Integrate the sensor model into IPG CarMaker
⟋ Support our project partners in integrating the simulation model into the VIVALDI toolchain

Your profile

⟋ You are studying electrical and information engineering, computer science or a related subject
⟋ You are proficient in C++ and understand how to integrate your code into existing software projects
⟋ You have a general understanding of modeling and validation
⟋ You have good language skills in German and English
⟋ Your way of working is structured, goal-oriented, careful and reliable
